On Friday 17th June, following an exclusive press launch, we opened the doors to our brand new VR centre in Thatcham, Reading, bringing out-of-this-world, free-roam VR to the people of Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
The hub for virtual and augmented reality experiences in the Thames Valley, meetspaceVR Thatcham (Reading) is the first of its kind outside of London in the South East and is only 1 of 4 in the entire country alongside our other mind-blowing centres in Wembley, Birmingham and Nottingham.
Amongst the ultra-immersive array of gaming experiences available is 3rd Generation Zero Latency VR – global leaders in warehouse scale, multiplayer, free-roam virtual reality. The new generation of free-roam VR technology means the backpacks have gone and everything you need is simply in the headset to deliver an even more immersive experience. Whether it’s tackling a zombie apocalypse or competing in a player-vs-player mission in outer-space, players can delve into virtual worlds in a way that’s impossible to do anywhere else.
As with our other venues, the new centre also offers a huge variety of challenging VR Escape Rooms
Located at the Colthrop Industrial Estate just east of Thatcham and 20 minutes from the centre of Reading, we’ve already caught the attention of visitors from all ages, interests and backgrounds.
CEO John Lilley, regards the Thames Valley as home having spent over 10 years traveling the length and breadth of the region inspiring children to learn to code by showing them how to make their own video games. He says, “As home VR grows in the UK we are fully focussed on delivering social, free-roam experiences that are quite simply mind-blowing and cannot be achieved at home. There are many bars with VR but the scale of social immersion in arena scale VR really challenges the senses and makes for a very special experience.”
“The experience was brilliant! The games were so much fun and the staff were all so lovely.” – Hinna Aamani, Newbury News
“I had the best time! I was so pleasantly surprised and will definitely be taking the family” – Jade Sims, Kennet Radio
